October brings a few fun traditions to our family.

We carve pumpkins.

We gather together as a family and eat yummy food.

We get dressed up...

The grandmas have a tradition of getting dressed up with the grandkids and taking them trick-or-treating. They are so stylish.
By the way, Halloween is Grandma Pat's birthday. Happy birthday!

The rest of us stay behind and hand out the goodies.

Meow!

One scrumptious little lion

Four feisty felines and a brave lion with their loot

All of our pumpkins glowing in the dark.
We have such fun in October!
Many times I have wondered, as time passes, will Emmelia, in her short little life on this earth thus far, remember my dad? My heart aches for their relationship. They had a special bond and before dad died, I found myself dreaming and laughing about the things they would do together.

As we were cuddling before nap today, Emmelia pulled a rock, about the size of a large orange, out from under her pillow. I laughed, thinking how much dad would love that his little granddaughter loved nature. She is always happiest outside digging in the dirt, rescuing worms, or playing in water.

I asked Emmelia why she was sleeping with a rock. She said softly, "Grandpa Jimmas gave it to me before he went to heaven. It is sparkly and I love it very much."

I want to capture these memories so that when she is older, she can remember a grandpa who loved her very much.
